Who we are

BuyRent operates this marketplace and is the data controller for the personal data described below. UK data-protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) applies to our handling of personal data, alongside local rules in other markets we serve.

What we collect

• Account data: name, email address, password credentials.
• Listing data: title, description, price, photos, category.
• Contact data: phone number and any contact details you publish.
• Location data: country, region, city or the area you type in.
• Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, pages viewed, and cookie identifiers.
• Messages and reports you send to us or to other users through the platform.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

• To publish your listings and let buyers contact you — performance of our contract with you.
• To keep the marketplace safe, moderate content, prevent fraud and enforce our policies — our legitimate interests.
• To operate paid features and keep payment records — contract and legal obligation.
• To measure usage and improve the service, and for advertising where used — consent, given through the cookie banner.

Anything you put in a listing, including your name, phone number and location, is published publicly and can be seen and indexed by search engines. Please only publish contact details you are happy to make public.

Who we share it with

We share data with service providers who host our platform, store images, send email and measure traffic, and with authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal data. Where data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we rely on approved safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Listings are kept while live and for a reasonable period afterwards for dispute handling. Account data is kept until you ask us to delete it. Records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons are kept for the required period.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw cookie consent at any time.
